性別や既存ルールに縛られず、動きやすさとファッションを両立。

 

音楽、歴史、自然、街、からインスピレーションを受け、スポーツやワークウェアの機能美も取り入れています。

Newtral, a fusion of “Neutral,” representing neutrality, and “New,” representing freshness like this 

It balances freedom from gender and existing rules with both mobility and fashion.

Inspired by music, history, nature, and the city, it also incorporates the functional beauty of sports and workwear.

はじめまして。

Newtralのデザイナーの、るかです。

私は昔から洋服が大好きです。

その日の気分を決めるし、何より、自分を表現できる手段だからです。

子どもの頃から、誰かが作ったルールや固定観念が苦手でした。

「こうあるべき」と言われるのが、好きではありませんでした。

家ではテレビより常に音楽が流れていて、そこで私はジャズ、ヒップホップ、R&B、レゲエ／ダンスホール、

そして世界中のディアスポラ（離散したアフリカ系文化）から生まれたブラックカルチャーに出会いました。

これらの文化、特にヒップホップは私自身の人生経験と深く結びつき、

世界史を知るきっかけとなり、

自分のルーツ＝日本人であることをより誇りに思えるようになりました。

ヒップホップは私に、「自分のルーツを知ること」と「どんな状況でも自分らしくあること」の大切さを教えてくれました。

洋服も音楽も、それぞれに時代背景があります。

そして特にヒップホップにおいて、この2つは切っても切り離せない存在です。

本当の歴史が覆い隠され、モノが溢れる現代社会の中で、

私は権力や上下関係にとらわれず、

上も下も、右も左もない、

ニュートラルでフラットなあり方を大切にしたいと思っています。

飾らずまっすぐシンプルに、そして自分らしく在る。

その想いを、日々のインスピレーションを通して、

洋服という形で表現しています。

I’m Ruka, the founder and sole designer of Newtral.

I’ve always loved clothes.

They set the tone for my day — and more than anything, they let me express who I am.

Since I was a child, I’ve disliked rules and fixed ideas made by others.

I never liked being told what something “should” be.

At home, music was always playing instead of the TV — and that’s how I discovered Jazz, Hip-Hop, RnB, Reggae/Dancehall and in turn, Black Culture, stemming from all corners of the Diaspora.

These cultures, especially Hip-Hop resonated deeply with my own personal life experiences and opened my eyes to world history, which helped me take even more pride in my own roots as a Japanese person.

Hip-Hop music taught me the importance of knowing your roots and staying true to yourself in all situations.

Both clothing and music have their own historical backgrounds, and we all know that as far as Hip-Hop goes, they are eternally intertwined.

In today’s world, where true history is often overshadowed or purposely hidden and material things overflow, I want to live — and create — without hierarchy or power,

with no “up” or “down,” no “right” or “left.”

To be neutral, straight to the point, simple, and true to myself.

That feeling is what I express through my clothes, inspired by everything around me.
